Two employment opportunities are presented at South Gippsland Shire Council. Both are described as newly created positions but a look at the organisational chart suggests that the directors roles have merely been renamed with the same department structure as earlier times.
All Council’s staff at Director/CEO level and the three Administrators all reside outside the Shire yet both job descriptions justifiably promote the positives of living the country lifestyle within easy reach of the city.

On 27 March 2019, the Council passed a resolution, in which it recorded its satisfaction that there existed a nuisance of the kind alleged by the complainants, but that the nuisance existed only intermittently. The March Resolution recorded the Council’s opinion, under s 62(3)(b) of the Wellbeing Act, that the matter was better settled privately, and identified several methods available for doing so.

Council used to produce the Agenda for an upcoming Council Meeting 14 days ahead of the Council meeting. This was to ensure that the public had sufficient time to read the contents and if desiring to make a public presentation about any matter they had time to organise themselves, to contact council, and to discuss the agenda item with one or more of their local Councillors.
This report which covers the 12-month period that the Administrators have been in charge makes comparison to the 2019 survey results only. Those results were a massive drop from 2018 due to all the various goings on at the time and the “encouragement” from external “players” who had an interest in removing the Councillors from office. Great news and congratulations for the grants for the Rail Trail Extension work. However, we would also point out that the grants total $1.4 million and ratepayers will need to stump up $6.2 million
South Gippsland Shire Council has been successful with its grant application for $800,000 for the Great Southern Rail Trail extension between Korumburra and Nyora. The funding was announced today by Member for Eastern Victoria Jane Garrett MP under the Victorian Government’s 2020/21 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.
As per requirements in the new Local Government Act 2020, all Councils must compile a Governance Rules policy by Sept 1st, 2020.

South Gippsland Shire Council is establishing an Economic Development Strategy Advisory Committee and a Visitor Economy Strategy Advisory Committee.
Several ratepayers chose to speak to their submissions in the recent budget s233 process. This process is a legal requirement under the Local Government Act. Council cannot approve a Budget until they have given, AND CONSIDERED, responses from ratepayers.
After reviewing the live stream of this meeting I felt compelled to write a letter of complaint to the Administrators since in my opinion, and it should be self-evident from watching the 5 minutes that I spoke for, that at least two of the 3 administrators were not listening.
At its meeting yesterday, South Gippsland Shire Council resolved to prohibit camping at the Franklin River Reserve due to public health concerns and the damage and inappropriate use of infrastructure. The reserve will be returned to its original use and will be open for day visitation.
