Writers in libraries residency program

Local writers are invited to apply for a one-month residency program to be hosted in South Gippsland libraries during February. Five residencies are available in four West Gippsland Regional Libraries located in Korumburra, Leongatha, Mirboo North and Foster.

Selected writers will develop one or a series of essays, poems or short stories that respond to the themes of isolation, emergence and connection, documenting this extraordinary time for the future. Writers will have access to the library collection and the support of librarians for the development of their work.

Excerpts from each of the works will be featured on posters for display across the Shire and finished works will be printed and stored at the participating libraries.

The residency program is a feature of South Gippsland Shire Council’s $2M COVID-19 Community Support Package which aims to assist with regional recovery. As part of the package $252,000 has been allocated to ten creative projects that aim at raising the profile of arts and culture in South Gippsland through a diverse range of events, workshops and activities.

More information about the residency program can be viewed at www.southgippsland.vic.gov.au/writersinlibraries

Expressions of interest close Friday 15 January, 2021.
