The VicHealth grants team has announced the 460 individual organisations who have been offered a Reimagining Health grant to support their local community rebuild after the coronavirus pandemic. Sharing in over $3.9 million dollars in funding, these recipients will help support their community through locally-led and owned health solutions. The reciprients from South Gippsland area are shown here.
Gippsland Soccer League ($3,000)
Gippsland Soccer League will use this grant to deliver GO Football programs to encourage players to return to sport after COVID-19. The
programs offer a variety of fun and social options for players of all ages and experience levels. Programs offer a variety of fun and social options for players of all ages and experience levels.
Leongatha Gymnastics ($5,000)
Leongatha Gymnastics will use this grant to purchase new equipment that is mobile and can be taken to different parts of their community. They will also reduce barriers of participation by providing free uniforms to all registered members through this funding.
Leongatha Knights Football Club Incorporated ($2,880)
Leongatha Knights Football Club will use this grant to run clinics at local schools to encourage young girls to take up soccer and offer an alternative to the dominant sports of AFL football and netball. The funds will be used to buy the equipment required to run the clinics.
South Gippsland Walking And Adventure Club Inc. ($3,000)
South Gippsland Walking and Adventure Club will use this grant to introduce new participants to bushwalking by connecting them with seasoned walkers. The program will include class room presentations and guided walks culminating in an exploration of Wilsons Promotory.
Meeniyan Community Garden Inc. ($10,000)
Meeniyan Community Garden will use this grant for materials to enhance the interactivity of community gardens for young people in this rural South Gippsland town. Locals will make and install a bike rack, shade sail, wind chimes, and expand promotion activities on Facebook to boost social connection and access to healthy food (vegetables are freely available to all).
Foster Bowls Club Inc. ($4007)
Foster Bowls Club in South Gippsland will use the funding to purchase equipment and promote their Bowlers for the future program to younger players, offering a series of new competitions including Jack Attack, Junior Bowls and school initiatives.
