GIPPSLAND SOUTHERN HEALTH SERVICE WORKER TESTS POSITIVE TO COVID-19
A staff member at the Gippsland Southern Health Service has tested positive to coronavirus.
Health service CEO Mark Johnson said the worker had followed coronavirus procedures and has not been at work since Tuesday, July 21.
“We are in the process of identifying staff (including contractors and visiting medical officers) that may have come into close contact with the employee,” Mr Johnson said.
“Those people will be contacted and required to be tested and self-isolate until their test result indicates a negative result. If positive they will need to be re-tested prior to return to work.”
The hospital is recommending other staff members get tested as a precaution.
All staff will be required to wear masks in public spaces, shared offices and when interacting with staff patients and visitors.
“Visitors to the hospitals and Koorooman House, Hillside Lodge and Alchera House will be limited to one visit per patient per day for one hour only and the visitor must be the next of kin or primary carer,” he said.
Gippsland Southern Health Service operates the Leongatha and Korumburra hospitals.
There are 12 active COVID-19 cases in Gippsland, including three in South Gippsland.
