The Minister for Planning has approved Amendment C115 to the South Gippsland Planning Scheme.

On advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, Professor Brett Sutton, local government elections will go ahead as scheduled for Saturday, 24 October 2020. The Minister for Local Government sought advice from the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office and Chief Health Officer as to how best to proceed while Victoria is in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
Council would like to commend the Mirboo North & District Community Foundation on its plans to build a modern and spacious medical clinic and allied health facility in Mirboo North. The new facility will ensure that the residents of Mirboo North and surrounds can have continued access to GP bulk billing and health services for decades to come.
South Gippsland Shire Council has awarded COVID-19 Businesses Grants to 82 successful applicants. The business grants aimed to assist shopfront businesses in South Gippsland that had experienced a downturn due to COVID-19.
On 27 March 2019, the Council passed a resolution, in which it recorded its satisfaction that there existed a nuisance of the kind alleged by the complainants, but that the nuisance existed only intermittently. The March Resolution recorded the Council’s opinion, under s 62(3)(b) of the Wellbeing Act, that the matter was better settled privately, and identified several methods available for doing so.
Corona Induced Spring Clean
Today I chose to extend my otherwise rushed lunch break to sit on our veranda and soak in the welcoming August sun. It was a picture-perfect day, the first for a long while.
As I turned to face the inviting rays, I closed my eyes and realised how much I missed the comforting warmth. It felt sublime, and in an instant melted my worrying thoughts into a trance-like stillness. I could have stayed put for hours immersed in what seemed like impenetrable peace.
I’ve been quietly struggling of late, attempting in disbelief to decipher what on earth is happening to our precious world. It feels so broken, so sombre and surreal. Covid-19 is all-consuming in every direction I turn, and I’m constantly attuned to the undeniable heaviness spread across the global board.
The trend down is continuing and daily numbers are coming down. Lets keep safe, practice social distancing and proper hygiene control and this should continue to get better.

Victorian businesses doing it tough will receive more help in dealing with the stress and emotional impacts of the coronavirus pandemic through a new Victorian Government wellbeing initiative.

If the new daily active cases in the next 7 days stay around the current level the 7 day average chart will continue to get lower and indicate the stage 4 changes brought in over a week ago are working in the community to reduce transmission.

Council used to produce the Agenda for an upcoming Council Meeting 14 days ahead of the Council meeting.
