Visitors will have to walk to the beach this year

No Summer bus service for Venus Bay this year

The Venus Bay Community Centre  are well underway planning for summer and looking at all the challenges ahead, they realise it will be a very different kind of summer ahead than normal. They need to continue to adapt to changing circumstances and consider the safety of their volunteers, staff and community members in everything they do.

The broader community  will face a longer, busier summer bringing associated issues that seem to have no easy solution such as more parking congestion this year. There will be limited car parking spaces with businesses and clubs needing to use outdoor parking spaces to provide COVID safe activities. So there will be limited parking at Venus Bay shopping precinct and at beach access points.

After careful consideration the management of the free summer beach shuttle bus have decided they are not able to safely offer the usual community bus service offered over the summer months period. The requirements of mask wearing, cleaning the bus services of possible covid-19 bugs would be an added responsibility for the volunteers and just makes the service too difficult to run this summer in the circumstances.

The Venus Bay Community Centre has been providing this free service for 9 years now – it has become a beloved feature of summer in Venus Bay and hopefully we shall see it return for summer 2022
