CLIMATE EMERGENCY – (SO CALLED)

Let me say at the outset, this is just a personal view and I don’t want, or expect, others to simply accept what I have to say. All I would like is for those inclined to follow the Climate Emergency Warrior doctrine to not allow themselves to be led by the nose. I see myself as a natural greenie and I have lived it every day, within the practical bounds of reality, for at least the last 50yrs or so. I thank my late son, Daniel, for that – he became involved with Friends of the Earth back when the conservation movement was all about self-sufficiency – self-sufficiency is rarely, if ever, mentioned today, yet in my eyes it is still a cornerstone of conservation. My ambition is to leave the World – especially South Gippsland-as a better place to live, work and play, for my numerous Great-grandchildren.

To achieve that includes requiring us to not leave them with a mountain of debt to pay because their forefathers had made decisions akin to economic suicide. That requires a considerable change in direction from the populist ideals that have driven, so called. Climate Emergency Warriors along their chosen pathway. We can no longer afford to leave the sugar on the table – all that is doing is propping up unaffordable feel good options that do not provide sustainable solutions for solving problems that Mother Nature is better equipped to deal with anyway. Mother Nature always applies the brake when mankind gets too far ahead of itself. In the commercial world it works like this: Create a problem – sell the solution. All I am asking is that those who are contemplating getting sucked into the Climate Emergency vortex do this before signing up. Read Apocalypse Never by Michael Shellenberger (published Feb,2020). It changed my thinking and I expect it may well do the same for you.

Yours sincerely
