A new ultra-rapid charging station for electric vehicles has opened in Horsham, connecting the Western Highway route between Melbourne to Adelaide. The Horsham site completes the rollout of seven ultra-rapid charging stations operated by electric vehicle charging network, Chargefox. Chargefox received $3 million from the Victorian Government to develop a network of seven sites across regional Victoria. Ultra-rapid Chargefox sites are now operating at Airport West, Euroa, Barnawartha North, Moe, Torquay, Ballarat, and Horsham. Chargefox has matched the Government’s funding to build the stations, which deliver approximately 400 kilometre in range from 15 minutes of charging, and source electricity from 100 per cent renewable energy.
Electric vehicle owners can now charge their vehicles at over 100 Chargefox sites across Victoria with the seven ultra-rapid Chargefox sites offering the fastest chargers in Australia.
There is a Tesla charge station at the Fish Creek Hotel and Leongatha Motel (for guests) and another EV charger is located nearby at the RACV Resort in Inverloch (Bass Coast Shire). South Gippsland Council has no plans to introduce EV charge stations itself but is supportive of businesses that may consider doing so to enhance or expand their business offering.”
