Details on Council’s Proposed 4 Year Plan
Council has produced 4 “Strategies” to follow over the next 4 years.
Strategy 1 re-introduces the Community Vision which was attempted by the last Council (Councillors) but sidelined due to the upcoming Local Government Act which was to mandate its introduction. The community could have had a Vision for the area developed led by a group of Councillors who had shown a preparedness to raise transparency and good governance and desired to represent the community.
It also aims to improve efficiency and plans on two new programs. A short term package of support for the business community from Covid 19 effects and the already approved policy to “coach” “cherry picked” community members to be better leaders.
Strategy 2 does not add anything new, merely stating that Council will produce policies to do their job basically.
Strategy 3 just says they will deliver services. They will continue to optimise the delivery of such services-a policy idea successfully introduced by the last Council. Shared services, not mentioned but is clearly central to their strategic direction.
Strategy 4 is about governance and engagement with the community. Mainly reviewing the existing policies on a rolling cycle as per Government guidelines.
The success or otherwise of the 4 strategies are to be evaluation against the following guidelines.
