SCULPTURAL MARKER FOR VENUS BAY
South Gippsland Shire Council is seeking Expressions of Interest to design and deliver a ‘sculptural marker’ for Van Cleef Reserve, Venus Bay.
A sculptural marker is now required for the south-east corner of Van Cleef Reserve (cnr. April Ave and Lees Rd).
The sculptural marker will function to;
– Replace the existing Council signage that is now in place
– Provide a visual marker for the Reserve
– Communicate the unique character of the Reserve
Council invites the submission of a design proposal that responds directly to the following brief.
The sculptural marker must be;
– Contemporary, organic, and unique (appropriate to both the character of Venus Bay, its community and natural environs)
– A direct creative response to the Reserve
– Simple to install
– Of suitable materials and construction to be in a public space for the duration of the artwork.
– Easy to maintain for the duration of the artwork.
– Of a scale that draws attention from passers-by
Please note: the proposed sculptural marker does not necessarily need to include text.
BUDGET – $10,000 (plus GST)
For artist fees and construction of the sculptural marker.
Note-preference will be given to;
1. local artists and artisans
2. Practical designs that comply with the requirements of the brief, are straight forward to install and require minimal maintenance
