I was completely intrigued as to how this gorgeous pair met and landed in the area. We all have a story and I was convinced theirs would prove to be an engaging tale worth sharing.

I was taken aback when Jeremy revealed he was born and bred in Albert Park, Melbourne! I assumed he was of German origin, as he spoke a perfect second language. So much so, I couldn’t even hear an Aussie accent seep through his words. Truly amazing! He obviously carries a gift for languages.

Jeremy stated his family had owned a holiday home in Walkerville since the 1960’s and remembers spending school vacations near the stunning beach each year while growing up.

At age twenty, Jeremy’s passion for surfing escalated and he ventured down this way to feed his hobby whenever time allowed. At age twenty-three he decided to move to Walkerville permanently, working odd jobs here and there, such as labouring and helping out in the local nursery.

When Jeremy chose to take a road trip to Hanging Rock in Nimbin, NSW, he wasn’t aware his world would consequently change forever more. There he spotted the lovely Kathi, who had travelled all the way from Germany to also enjoy a road trip with friends, visiting various parts of our beautiful country.

It only took a day to realise the love bug had landed and dug its way into both their hearts.

They immediately became inseparable and relished in the two weeks Kathi had left of her Australian holiday.

The pair travelled to Sydney, where Kathi boarded a home bound flight to Germany, while Jeremy ventured back to his family in Albert Park. Five weeks later he jumped on a plane heading to Europe to join the newly found love of his life, and together they lived in Hamburg for approximately one year … and that’s where Jeremy skilfully picked up the German language!

After this time Jeremy returned to Australia, leaving Kathi to complete her Bachelor of Psychology degree. Many months later they reunited and again hit the Aussie road for an intimate, road trip adventure.

The remaining story consists of a time consuming jungle of visa paperwork costing money, patience and nerves, however Kathi was finally granted Australian Residency, enabling the pair to be together and to live happily ever after. They chose to settle in South Gippsland to become the new proprietors of the Walkerville Kiosk.

This gorgeous couple is adored by the local community and it’s not difficult to see why. Their friendly, uplifting energy emanates wherever they go.

Kathi and Jeremy are without doubt pleasurable assets to South Gippsland, and a little birdie told me Kathi bakes the most delicious chocolate brownies ever tasted!
